Gum Disease

Periodontitis also called Gum disease is a sever form of gum infection that damages the gums around the teeth and if left without treatment, can damage the surrounding bone supporting the teeth. Periodontitis can cause the teeth to loosen and may even lead to teeth loss.

Although it is very common, its failry preventable. Poor Oral hygiene is the main causative factor. Symptoms include: tender, red and swollen gums which might bleed on touch or on brushing

Treatment usually include professional cleaning around the gums and in the pockets around the teeth. Advanced periodontitis may even require gum surgeries.

Severe chronic Periodontitis has been considered as a risk factor for Heart and Lung diseases.
